Intensive one year A Level courses
One-year A-level courses are highly intensive, focussed and effective courses. They cover the entire A-level syllabus in about 30 weeks of teaching, between September and June. One year A level courses work for students needing to resit A levels or for those moving school who need to play catch up. Normally speaking this one year option is aimed at those who are 17 years of age and above.
This is a very demanding course and our expert, experienced teachers, will cover the necessary material and develop examination skills in one year. The teaching staff are able to provide help very rapidly if a student encounters difficulties.
There's no getting away from the fact that these courses are onerous. Classes progress at a fast pace, from the first day, and they demand a lot of work. You will have to study consistently, as well needing to develop a range of A-level subject and examination skills within the limited timeframe.
It is advisable but not compulsory to have a GCSE in your chosen course. Some subjects such as Spanish or Mathematics do require a strong background, while other subjects can be successfully taken without previous subject experience. Of more importance is a sensible and dedicated approach to your study.
The intensive one year course is designed for those who have the clear ability to complete A-Levels within the limited time. A level of maturity and a good work ethic are essential. Students wanting to complete their qualifications within a year will need to demonstrate that they have the academic skills to enable them to succeed on what is a highly demanding one year course as well as the maturity and self-discipline to do so. To that end, any student wishing to enrol on the course will have a formal interview.
