Curriculum
As a British School Overseas we follow a British Council School curriculum that is based on the English Early Years Foundation Stage and English National Curriculum up to Year 11. It is complemented by mandatory Spanish language.
Our reception students from 6 years and up follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. This broad and balanced approach offers the children the 7 essential areas of learning:

These are delivered through the medium of English Language both inside and outside of the classroom in a unique, purpose built and resourced Early Years learning environment. Phonics is taught from the third term in Nursery using the Read, Write, Inc. Programme. Between 10 and 15% of the timetable is delivered in Spanish, including Literature, Language and Understanding the World.
Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 3
Key Stage 1 includes Year 1, 2 and 3 in our school. Key Stage 2 includes Year 4, 5 and 6. Key Stage 3 includes Year 7and 8.
In Key Stages 1 to 3, pupils study the English National Curriculum which occupies approximately 80% of their 35 period school week. This is delivered in English. Pupils spend the remaining 20% studying Spanish language and cultural studies.
Key Stage 4
In Key Stage 4, students normally take 10 IGCSE subjects of which 8 are compulsory and 2 are optional.

Students also choose 2 of, Computing, Economics, History, Art, PE. Some students choose or are advised to choose Extra Mathematics and/or Extra English and when necessary Extra Science in order to reinforce these subjects. All students take weekly Physical Education and Religion Studies.
In Year 9 students receive careers guidance in Term 3 through the PSHE/Tutorial Programme. This also supports them when choosing IGCSE/International GCSE Options for Year 10 and 11. In Year 11, students continue to receive careers guidance through the PSHE programme and there is an extensive advice programme to support them in choosing subjects in Year 12 and Year 13 focussed on University and Degree choices.
Key Stage 5
In Year 12, we encourage all students to study a combination of English, Spanish Language and Mathematics. Students can then choose one of the following, Business, Geography, Economics, History, and Religious Studies.

Maths
Our range of courses caters for students of different abilities. With flexible routes through our maths qualifications, you have the freedom to plan a maths journey for each student, whatever their learning style, ability or aspirations.
Spanish
Pearson's IGCSE and AS, A-level and IAL specifications provide a broad understanding of the culture, countries and communities where modern languages are spoken and encourage enjoyment of language learning.

Art and Design
Art and Design courses are flexible and stimulate creativity, offering a high degree of choice and a range of different media, processes and techniques. All our courses give students the opportunity to produce a portfolio of work that they can show to prospective employers or use to help secure a place in higher education.

Biology, Chemistry and Physics
Our science courses combine relevant, inspiring content.
With a wide range of science qualifications, we can provide choice and flexibility to suit students of different abilities and aptitudes, we support all students from those who want to understand the basics, through to those who want to follow a career in science or follow a higher education science course.
Business
In our secondary school, our Business course, typically combines elements of accountancy, finance, marketing, organizational studies, human resource management and economics. The range of topics is designed to give the student a general overview of the various elements of running a business.

Computer Science
Computer Science is the study of computers and computational systems. Unlike electrical and computer engineers, computer scientists deal mostly with software and software systems; this includes their theory, design, development, and application
Geography
Studying Geography gives students the opportunity to travel the world via the classroom, learning about both natural and social sciences along the way. We take great care to make sure our specifications for our Geography students are as exciting and engaging to learn, as they are for you to teach.
Global Citizenship
Citizenship Studies prepares students to become active citizens of democracy. The Citizenship Studies specifications allow students to apply their learning to real-life scenarios on both a local and global scale.
History
Our History qualifications offer schools, colleges and students the opportunity to study a range of periods from history in a variety of ways – from both national and international perspectives. At secondary level, Business Studies, as it is often called, typically combines elements of accountancy, finance, marketing, organizational studies, human resource management and economics.[1] The range of topics is designed to give the student a general overview of the various elements of running a business.

Music
We’ve kept as much emphasis as possible on the practical, so our students have every opportunity to take part in an annual performance. Music at our school is an introduction to the study of music, including a variety of musical. styles and genres. Our aim is for students to acquire the necessary level to take on a GCSE in the subject.

Politics
The focus of this subject is on: parliament, government and the people; representative democracy; participation; the structures of authority and power; the rights and responsibilities of individuals; engagement with contemporary politics in the UK and the USA; current political debates; and the links between political ideologies.

Physical Education
The vision of our school is that everyone in the school community is able to take part in sport or activity, regardless of age, background or ability. We aim to develop students' physical competence and knowledge of movement and safety, and their ability to use these to perform in a wide range of activities associated with the development of an active and healthy lifestyle.
PSHE
PSHE education is a school curriculum subject in England that helps children and young people stay healthy, safe and prepared for life – and work – in modern Britain. When taught well, PSHE education also helps pupils to achieve their academic potential.
Russian
Religious Studies
Our specifications provide a broad understanding of the beliefs and practices of the faiths studied, as well as promoting religious literacy and the contemplation of ultimate questions.
Students will be able to reflect on and develop their own values, beliefs and attitudes in light of what they have learnt.There will be a range of relevant and contemporary themes to study that will promote awareness of modern-world issues and engagement within the classroom.

The Pearson Edexcel Level 1/Level 2 GCSE (9–1) in Russian consists of four externally examined papers based on the following skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students must complete their speaking assessment in April/May and all other assessments in May/June in any single year. Each paper is available at Foundation tier or Higher tier. Students must be entered for a single tier across all papers.
Sociology is the study of how society is organised and how we experience life. In an increasingly interconnected world, sociology appeals to learners interested in understanding how society works and addressing its divisions and inequalities.
