Entrance Policy for New Students

1. Assessment and Placement

As our school welcomes students from a wide range of countries and educational backgrounds, we recognise that they may enter the education system at different ages and stages of development. The age at which compulsory schooling begins varies between countries, and students may therefore have different educational experiences and levels of attainment.

To ensure that each student is placed in the most appropriate year group, we carry out informal assessments upon entry. These assessments focus particularly on Mathematics, English and Spanish, allowing us to establish each student's current level of understanding and academic ability.

We understand that language barriers can present significant challenges to learning and academic progress. For this reason, we carefully consider each student's proficiency in the language of instruction and identify any additional language support that may be required.

Following the assessment process, students are allocated to the year group that best reflects their individual academic needs, abilities and overall educational development.

2. Individual Educational Support

Where additional support is considered necessary, an Individual Education Plan (IEP) may be developed to identify the student's specific needs, establish appropriate learning objectives and outline the support required to help them progress.

Students may receive additional assistance through one-to-one support or small-group interventions, depending on their individual circumstances. These arrangements are intended to address learning gaps, develop language proficiency and enable students to access the curriculum as effectively as possible.

3. Specialist Assessment and Additional Information

The school takes into account any existing diagnoses, educational reports, previous assessments and other relevant information provided by parents or guardians.

This information is shared with our educational psychologist (psicopedagoga), who helps us understand the student's individual learning profile and identify appropriate strategies and interventions where necessary.

We aim to work collaboratively with families and relevant professionals to ensure that each student receives appropriate support and that their educational needs are recognised and addressed.

4. Monitoring Progress and Promoting Achievement

Our approach is based on recognising that every student is an individual, with their own strengths, challenges and learning needs. Through ongoing assessment, personalised support and regular monitoring of progress, we aim to ensure that all students have the opportunity to develop their academic skills, language proficiency and confidence.

Our commitment to individualised support, particularly in English as a Second Language (ESL), has contributed to our students' outstanding academic achievements.

We are extremely proud of the recognition our students have received through the OxfordAQA Go Further Awards:

  • 2025: IGCSE English as a Second Language (ESL) Best in Spain and Best in Europe.

  • 2026: IGCSE English as a Second Language (ESL) and Spanish Best in Spain and Best in Europe.

These achievements reflect the dedication of our students and the commitment of our teaching staff to providing high-quality education, personalised learning support and opportunities for every student to fulfil their potential.

We remain committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive and academically challenging environment in which every student is encouraged to develop their abilities, achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
